DEG’s Flak Jacket™ was designed and built to provide our steadfast Retrievers with the ultimate protection in the water and field.

At DEG, our Retrievers are family, and we provide for them as such.   From the intensive training and Summer work trips to the specialized equipment and dietary needs, we do not cut corners.  With this in mind, we tasked our design team to create the ultimate water and field accessory to keep our Retrievers protected and comfortable.  They work their hearts out for us in and out of season; so we went to work for them and produced the highest quality protective, hunting vest on the market.   We trust this vest with our retrievers and hope you experience it and trust it with yours.

Note: This vest is designed to fit snugly.  It will stretch some after its first use.  We find that with our retrievers, the first time we put them in a new vest, the vest is very tight, but after initial use, the vest conforms nicely.  You do not want the vest to be loose.   Also please note, do not try on the vest for the first time before a hunt.  While we have designed the vest to minimize restriction, most dogs take some time to get used to wearing vests.

After use in saltwater environments, we recommend rinsing your Flak Jacket™ with fresh water and hang dry.  In muddy timber and swamp environments, we recommend rinsing your Flak Jacket as well as brushing away mud and dirt with a soft brush.   The 1000d Cordura® exterior is extremely durable; however, proper care will significantly reduce wear.

Top of the Line!

This is the absolute best dog vest on the market. I've run them all—Avery, Banded, Hardcore, you name it—and this thing is absolutely badass. It's durable, has great flotation, and the Velcro gives you an awesome opportunity to customize it how you might like. For instance, I had a dog named Moose who passed away prematurely, and now my dog Nes wears a moose patch on her left side. It's just awesome. Can't beat it with a stick!

Flak Jacket

By far the best dog vest I have used. The size chart is dead on accurate and the vest is tough as nails. We go through the other vests on the market at the rate of about one a year. There’s no doubt after using this one since Christmas it will last much longer! No buyer’s remorse here!

Flak jacket solid choice

I like both the look of and the utility of the flak jacket. I own a pretty large stud and I like that I can still lift his 85lb.’s into the boat by the handle. I like that the cordura adds some puncture resistance from submerged (unseen objects). It’s a good looking dog jacket, that seems to work well for us.

Bomb proof

This is the toughest jacket I have seen on the market. The sizing fit my dog perfectly to. If anything, order true to size or one size up to allow room if your dog is still growing.

Great apparel. Horrible customer service.

The flak jacket is awesome so far. My dog measured 26.5 at the chest. I ordered the med because it fit a 26. I didn't think 1/2" would be that much of a difference. It is! I need to return for a large. Can not get ahold of no return calls. I tries to use the return category on the website which lead me to another site which was none functional. I tried to call and leave another message with no return call. I ordered a large and will sort the med out later. The large fits awesome looks good. I have not had it out in action yet but it looks way better than other high dollar vest so far.
